Caroline Swims

We finished a 3 day "Mommy and Me" swim class with Caroline at Ms. Hope's this week.  She loves the bath tub, but has not gotten in the pool much this summer and we felt it was important to expose her now. To say that she did not love it is a massive understatement! She screamed bloody murder the ENTIRE time we were in the water. Plus, we had a cold snap in July and being in the water was actually warmer than when you were outside.

Despite the tears, I still feel like the lessons were super beneficial for her. We did this same class with Tyler last summer and while he was almost 2 and she is not even 18 months, there were definitely some things she was not physically ready for yet. We practiced blowing bubbles, floating, monkey walking, jumping in, kicking and pulling herself out of the pool. And I kept telling her that I was only doing this with her because I loved her!! :)

On the last day, Ms. Hope brought out some pool toys to play with and Caroline loved Cinderella. She kept saying "Rella" through tears and we used it a motivation to get her to do things, which actually worked pretty well. At the end of the lesson, Ms. Hope gave Rella to her. So sweet!

After going under! We play ring around and roses, count to 3,
I blow in her face (so she'll hold her breath) and then we go under.

Jumping in!
Even through tears, she would still jump in.

When she "swam to the side", she would scream the whole way, but she would kick
her feet and put her face in to blow bubbles through the screams. At least she was
retaining some of the info even though she wasn't happy about it!

BIG reach for the side...because she knew she'd be done! Ha!
Wrapped in a towel after lessons but still crying a little.

We are hoping to get both Caroline and Tyler in private lessons with Ms. Hope next year!

Ms. Hope with Caroline and classmate, Morgan. (And her Rella! Ha!)

Here are a few videos, too...
