"Planes" weekend

Since Tyler is SO obsessed with the Disney "Cars" movie, we decided to take him to see Disney's "Planes" movie that came out in theaters this past weekend. It was his first movie in the theater and he did great! When we got him up from his nap on Sunday and told him where we were going, he kept saying, "I go to movies, see airplanes!" I think he kinda knew what we were doing because on the way there he said, "We almost watching TV!" Ha!

As we pulled in the theater parking lot, the skies open up, the rain started pouring and we all got soaked! I was glad to have gotten there a little early so we would have time dry off, get popcorn, get good seats and not have to rush Tyler. At the recommendation of a friend, we also requested a booster seat from the concession stand...this thing was awesome because it held his seat down, boosted him up to be able to see and even had a little cup holder. I also brought a small bowl so Tyler could hold his own popcorn, which was a big hit.

Tyler loved the movie! The most funny parts to Russ and I were watching Tyler enjoy himself and listening to him narrate during the movie..."Oooh, there's a green screen." (during the previews)..."Oooh, it's dark in here."..."There's Dusty!" (the main airplane)..."There's a bunch of planes!!" He stayed in his seat until right at the very end (when he climbed into Russ' lap) and did SO well. It was a perfect special treat for our big boy and we enjoyed the one-on-one time with him. (Uncle Brian and Lindsay watched Caroline at home.) 

On Saturday, Tyler and Russ went to their first "Build and Grow" event at Lowes. These are free events that they have every so often and they were building Dusty from "Planes". Tyler was very excited to go "build airplane with Daddy"! They came home less than an hour later with his Dusty plane (unfinished), an apron, goggles, a certificate and an iron-on patch...all free! Wow! A very proud Tyler could not wait to show me what he had built! Russ finished applying the stickers at home and Tyler just loves it. They are going back in 2 weeks to build another plane from the movie.
