Star of the Week and other Tyler news

Tyler is Star of the Week at school in his classroom this week. The kids have been taking turns since September and it is finally his turn to get some special attention. He gets to have a special poster on his classroom door and be the class helper for the week. I printed some pictures of him doing some of his favorite things and he helped me decorate it. He was very proud!

Speaking of Tyler updates, let's talk about potty training. Since the first of the year, his teachers have been working with him more at school to get him potty trained. He still is not super interested, but since they literally go to the potty every hour to hour and a half as a class, he has no choice but to at least attempt it. He is now going potty several times a time and is also staying dry a few times a day, too. One day he went potty every time they went!! That is progress and I am happy with!! He gets stickers when he is successful and he has filled up his potty chart at school twice now for a special prize. Here's hoping that he will continue to make big progress in this area...I would love for him to be potty training by summer before he's 3! (And he HAS to be before he starts his new school in the fall. Nothing like a looming deadline with a strong-willed toddler!)

Tyler is very independent and is becoming even more so every day. He wants to do everything himself. Lately that has crossed into naptime and bedtime and the stall tactics he poses are crazy! He always wants to take a car to bed with him and a lot of the time he plays with it forever before he actually falls asleep. He also gets out of the bed and turns on his light, goes in his closet to pick out his clothes (usually shorts with a long sleeve top...in the winter! Ha!) and will start knocking loudly on his door when he is ready to get up (he can't get out because he hasn't figured out the child-proofed door knobs yet).

One naptime, I went to get him up and I found him in the floor with his diapers lined up all over the place. He proudly said he was making a diaper train and he pointed out all the different trains he made!! Ha! He did it the next day at naptime, too. Crazy kid. I do have to give him props for his creativity and ability to make something fun out of the limited things he has in his room! If we kept his toys in there, I am sure he would never sleep!
