4th of July

Happy Birthday, America! We had a jam-packed, busy day of celebrating!!

We started the day out at the 64th annual Highpoint Neighborhood Parade. This was our 2nd year to go and we had a great time. There is so much to see and take in and I think Tyler didn't know what to look at first!! We watched all the firetrucks and cars go by and then we joined the parade for the loop around the circle. Tyler rode in his decorated wagon while I carried Caroline in the Ergo. Along the way, we saw lots of people we knew, so that was extra fun. Tyler was too timid to go into the spray from the firetrucks, but toward the end, he loved splashing in the puddles and we stayed until the firetrucks had to leave. Even though it was a relatively cool day for July (the coolest on record for the 4th actually), I was burning up hot with C on me in the Ergo! When I took her out to get into her carseat, my shirt was completely soaked...good times!

Tyler in his tricked out wagon all decorated for the 4th!
He would not leave the house without this hat!!
I even had a more patriotic one for him, but he was not interested.
We saw our favorite realtor and friend, Ms. Sally and her sweet pup, Chip!
The firetrucks parading.
Tyler was completely mesmerized by the firetrucks!
Here come the cars and floats!
Mommy with her 2 kiddos walking in the parade.
Checking out the old-timey car.
LOTS of people come out for this thing!!
Checking out the spray and the fireman climbing the ladder.

Getting into it and starting to splash in the puddles.
Playing in the water!
Walking in all the gushing water in the gutter.

We raced home from the parade, so the boys changed into their swim clothes while I fed C. Then we headed out to Collierville for Bennett's birthday party - he shares a birthday with our country and turned 2! He had a pool party and I have never seen so many people at a birthday party in my entire life. Tyler had a blast in the pool in his puddle jumper and jumped off the diving board for the first time! He was so fearless! I didn't get very many pictures because there was a lot going on!

Sweet C hanging out in her car seat, as usual.
Carrie loving on Nora.
Up on the diving board, ready to jump!
It was a deep pool...Russ was pulling himself up to hold his hand.
Still smiling on the way in!
All the way under with a big splash!!
We left the party WAY before Tyler wanted to...he could've swam all day, I think. We went home and all crashed for a bit before getting up and heading to Jackson for the Brasfield's annual 4th of July picnic and parade. This was Caroline's first trip to Jackson and all the family was SO excited to meet her. The Brasfields rent a huge grill to cook all the food that is needed for the crowd and everyone brings something to share. They also rented a huge inflatable water slide that Tyler could not wait to try after dinner since he loves to slide! He got half way up and got scared, so Russ had to take him up. He didn't love it...I think it was a little too high and too fast for him just yet. He did love spending the rest of the time in the swimming pool playing basketball. We ended the evening catching lightening bugs and Tyler crashed out on the drive home after an exhausting and full day of activities!
Meeting cousin Rachel!
This kid was SO excited for watermelon!!

Heading up the slide.
Round 2 with Daddy...
Ready to slide...
Down he goes!
Getting a little encouragement afterwards from Daddy.
