Snow, finally!

This has been a brutally cold winter and everyone all around us has been getting snow except us! We FINALLY woke up on Saturday to a light dusting (not even an inch), but it was enough to get out and play in...though not enough to go sledding or build a snowman unfortunately. Tyler has never played in snow before so he was excited to get bundled up. I had to improvise on the kids clothes...Tyler's pants were 18mo that somehow still fit and Granna bought the jacket at a consignment sale probably a year and a half ago. Poor Caroline did not have any waterproof pants, so jeans had to do. My most favorite trick that I learned is to keep the kids flannel footed pajamas on as a base layer. Both wore rain boots with extra socks...Caroline's kept falling off because they were WAY too big.

Checking out the snow from his bedroom window!
All dressed and ready to head outside!

Waiting for Daddy to get his boots on.

Caroline was not a huge fan of the snow and cold so she and I only stayed outside for few minutes. Come to find out that she was getting sick...she cried and fussed the entire rest of the day, which is very unlike her. I also think all the clothing layers made her mad...she had a hard time crawling around the house in all those clothes, so she would just lay out on the floor and cry!! Ha!

Tyler building the tiniest snowman in the background.
She did not like sitting down!!

On the other hand, Tyler had a blast! He has definitely missed playing outside this winter, because he and Russ stayed out all morning. Most of the time, he refused to wear his gloves and freakishly his hands stayed warm somehow. Super powers maybe? Ha! Our neighborhood buddy, Bennett, and his Daddy, Justin, even came down on their 4-wheeler to play for a while, too. We finished the morning with hot chocolate (only enjoyed by the adults because neither Tyler nor Bennett liked it), homemade snow cream and PB&J sandwiches before nap time.

Throwing snowballs!

Bennett playing the "bongos"!
Tyler walked around forever raking the snow...all over the front and backyard.

Bennett's a pretty good little t-ball hitter!
Bennett let Tyler sit on his 4-wheeler...Tyler was not interested in riding it.
Bennett took off down the street pushing the Little Tikes car.
I'm not sure how Justin convinced him to come back. Ha!

Here's hoping we get lots more snow next time so we can add building a snowman and sledding to our list.
