Thanksgiving 2015

We had a very happy Thanksgiving spent with family. As in the past, Thanksgiving is our crazy travel weekend. We see most sides of the family and spend 12+ hours in the car. It's a sprint and is truly exhausting. Russ and I think it's time to change it up a little bit starting next year. We are considering  how to best do that. Our goal is to be able to spend more quality time with people and less time in the car! We have a whole year to figure it out.

But for now, our 2015 Thanksgiving started on Wednesday for me and kids. They were out of school, so I took the day off to hang with them. It was a full day since I spent the morning packing for our travels. We did work in a lunchtime movie treat seeing the Peanuts movie. It was really cute and the kids loved it...and the popcorn.

It was bright and they were not into taking a pic. Ha!

When Russ got home from work, we headed out to Jackson to celebrate with his family. A little lasagna and a lot of boys cousins made for a fun night. We were chasing kids, so we didn't get many pictures. We also left later than ever (after 930p!) so we were exhausted pulling into Clarksville around midnight. To make it worse, Tyler would not sleep in the car at all and wanted to play when we got to Granna's. He was so upset (and overly tired!) when we put him to bed. Poor buddy. Caroline stayed up in the car too and only fell asleep in the last 20 mins of the drive. Ugh.

Thanksgiving morning came super early due to lack of sleep! But we were on the road a little after 9a heading to Bardstown, KY to see my Mom's extended side of the family. We were missing quite a few people this year which is the trend as cousins are getting married and needing to spend time with other sides' of the family. It was a quick visit, but the kids definitely had fun. We are going to look to plan a long weekend trip in the summer when we can relax and visit a little bit more. And again, I got hardly any pictures and zero of the family and cousins this year ...#fail on my part.

We made the trip back to Clarksville the same day and all crashed. Black Friday was a little lazier, as we stayed in our pjs a little longer. I enjoyed some online shopping of the sales (hello $12 razor scooters for each of the kids birthdays and $25 Amazon Kindles also for the kids that we are saving for our family vacation entertainment!) Granna cooked another entire Thanksgiving meal and we enjoyed it with Carol, Mark, Nannie and Tom. That night, Russ and I got away to see the last Hunger Games movie in the theater. It was really good! I hated the 3rd book (and stopped reading it with only 30 pages left! Ha!), but I loved the movie.

Saturday, we made the trip home. We unpacked and finished up the remainder of the Christmas decorations and rested from our weekend. I can't believe that another Christmas is almost here!
