Tyler's first Easter

We had fun celebrating Tyler's first Easter in Clarksville with family. Tyler's daycare was closed on Friday, so Russ and I both took the day off. We got up early and both did several things around the house - Russ mowed the yard, I finished up our taxes, then Russ dropped them by the accountant, packed for the weekend, etc. We took our time and left around 12:30p, after Tyler woke up from his 2 1/2 hour (wowzer!) morning nap. We stopped at the Lexington exit on the way for lunch at Dairy Queen and made it into Clarksville around 5p.

We hadn't visited the Easter bunny yet, so Russ and I decided to take Tyler to the happening Clarksville mall that night. Tyler did not fuss like I thought he might, but was in his "serious mood" for the picture, continuing his recent trend. We tried to make him smile, but in the end just snapped the photo and got out of there, since we were already dangerously close to a too-close-to-bedtime-to-be-out-in-public meltdown. Ha!

Why is it that every Easter Bunny looks so creepy!?! 

Saturday was a nice and lazy day spent at Granna's house. The weather was so nice, so we spent a lot of time outside and had a cookout for dinner. Tyler had fun playing with Granna's wind chimes (with Aunt Carol's help!), eating his first hot dog and playing with things that aren't toys that are bigger than him (aka the stroller and the kitchen stool in the pics below)! It was a really nice day visiting with lots of family - Aunt Carol, Uncle Mark and cousins Matthew and Lieran came in from Franklin and Nashville. Nannie and Tom, plus Uncle Brian and his new girlfriend Lindsay also made it in that night from Memphis. We even got to see our good neighbor friends, Mrs. Bryant and Mrs. Darke.

On Easter morning, we got up early to get ready for 8am church. UGH! The other options were 10a (which is in the middle of nap time) or noon (which would mess up our Easter lunch plans). The Easter bunny came and I did manage to get a few quick pics of Tyler and his basket before we left.

We got to church right on time and it was PACKED! We had to split up to find seats and sit towards the front. Ugh! Tyler normally goes to the nursery during church in Memphis, so I did not know what to expect since he's become mobile and vocal. He did really well - his paci and a book kept him entertained for most of the service. Though he only wanted me to hold him (he is heavy!) and we did slip out at communion and waited until Mass was over. It was close to 10am when we got home and he was tired and hungry. We quickly attempted a few pictures, which ended quickly because of meltdowns, before he ate and went down for a nap.

After a 2 1/2 hour nap, Tyler was ready to go again. We had a nice Easter lunch with family, played outside, "hunted eggs" and just hung out.

He loves to "walk" with help from Mommy! He is
getting the hang of picking up his feet and is going fast.

But crawling is still his main mode of transport. He is
 SUPER fast and babbles the entire time he is on the move!

We left Clarksville a little after 3pm, right as a cranky Tyler was ready for his afternoon nap. He slept for about 2+ hours in the car until we stopped for gas outside of Jackson, TN. I moved to the backseat so I could feed him a small bottle and a snack while we drove. He was in a great mood and we played and sang songs most of the way home.

We got home by 6:30pm. We got the car unpacked, gave Tyler a bath and bottle before bed and started getting things together for the week (washed bottles, packed lunches, did laundry, etc.) Whew! We are all tired today and our house is a disaster, but it was a fun weekend and that's really what matters.
