Snow Day! (Kinda)
There have been record breaking snows all over the country...everywhere except for Memphis! We finally got a little bit of snow last week. It was really just a dusting, but it was enough to close schools and have a snow day!
The night before the "snow", the kids were super excited! So we did some snow rituals to entice the snow to stick. We flushed ice cubes down the toilet (the kids thought this was GREAT!) and we wore out PJs inside out! The kids had a ball and it made the little bit of snow that we did get that much more exciting!!
School was closed for the snow and ice but as always, Russ went into work and I stayed home. We lounged a good bit early morning, but the kids were BEGGING to go out and play. I wrestled us all into our layers and we headed outside. Despite the lack of snow, it was still really cold! Tyler was especially disappointed that there was not enough snow to sled down the big hill.
It was misting/sleeting/snowing and Caroline was trying to catch it.
We played a little in our own yard before we headed up the street to play with neighbors. By the time we got there, the kids were cold so we ended up playing inside in Preston and Margo's playroom for a bit. We did make it back outside for a bit and played on the Fields swing set before heading back down to our house for naps.
Loaded up with the sled (just in case!)
Margo was not so sure about the snow. Plus it was COLD!
She loved this little microphone!
Trying "pop rocks" candy for the first time!
Kelly and Connor came out to play, too, but Connor was not feeling the cold!
By mid-afternoon, all our "snow" was melted. Mother Nature gave us a pretty big let down if you ask me. Oh well. We still enjoyed our day "off" and fun with friends!
