Ringing in 2014

We rang in New Year's Eve in our true-to-self busy fashion. I was still off and spent the day cleaning up around the house while the kids were at daycare and Russ worked. I got a phone call mid-afternoon that Tyler was throwing up sick, so Russ went to get him a little early. He got sick 3 times at school, poor buddy, and one more time at home...luckily on the hardwood and not on any of my rugs. He was so puny and wanted to be held, so you know he didn't feel well. He kept saying that his tummy hurt and that he "throwed up" in his class on on his shoes. We made him a little pallet on the floor, put the sick bucket next to him just in case and popped in Planes, at his request. We had New Year's Eve plans and our sitter was still up for coming, so we went ahead and left the kiddos and checked in several times. Thankfully, Tyler did not get sick anymore.

For NYE, we booked dinner reservations at Benihana with the Peregoys. We were all excited to get together without kids since it had been so long and also about the chicken fried rice! After dinner, we headed back to the Peregoys house (since their kids were spending the night out), turned on Dick Clark's New Year's Rocking Eve, popped open some wine and champagne and proceeded to play our favorite card game, SPADES!! It is always guys vs. girls and normally the girls kick butt, but that night we got smoked. There was definitely some cheating going on, we suspect! We had a wonderful time and stayed out until almost 2a!
In the middle of looking for some "missing cards"...Hmmm...
Me and Jennifer...one the best friends a girl could have!
We spent New Year's Day mainly around the house. Tyler still wasn't feeling 100%, so we lounged around on the pallet watching movies. My friend, Bethany, was in town from Atlanta so I went to meet her and some other friends at Huey's for lunch. I also got to meet Emily's newest baby, sweet Campbell. It was a fun way to start the new year. The rest of the day was spent playing with new toys from Christmas, getting ready to go back to work and school, and prepping for the painters who started on Thursday!!

One last look at our beige built-ins before being painted!
New Year's Day lunch at Huey's!
I can't believe it's 2014! Happy New Year!
