Swimming lessons

Tyler took swimming lessons last week. It was a "Mommy (well, in this case Daddy) and Me" class with 2 other kids and was only 3 days long. The focus was on basics (kicking, blowing bubbles, gliding the the side, jumping in and floating) and water safety (getting himself out of the pool and monkey walking on the side of the wall to the stairs).

I picked Tyler up from daycare each afternoon and got him in his swimsuit before we headed to lessons. He was SUPER excited on the first day....so much so that his squealing and excitement was a little distracting. The 2nd day of lessons got rained out, but on day 3 and the makeup day, Tyler was super whiny and clingy to Russ...a recent toddler trait I am hoping he outgrows quickly. Both Daddy and Ms. Hope were very patient with Tyler and he ended up doing really well, especially on the last day. He is blowing bubbles and kicking well (but not at the same time just yet). He loves jumping in the pool and can monkey walk by himself, too. He is almost able to pull himself up and out of the pool by himself, but floating was his big challenge. I am proud of what he can do and we will continue to work on it this summer.
