While a lot of our long weekend was spent putting together the kid's new wooden playset for the backyard, we did manage to squeeze it quite a bit of family fun in our 3 day weekend. Saturday, I wrangled kids inside for most of the day while Russ worked away outside. I got some cute pictures of the kids sitting together watching a movie and then Caroline just leaned over and tackled Tyler. They were giggling and thought it was so funny. They are really starting to play together a little more each day.
That night, we went to a cookout at the Deal's house with all my Mom friends from church. It had been a while since I had seen everyone and it was fun getting the kids together to play. We stayed out way too late and the kids crashed out in the car on the way home and we skipped badly needed baths.
On Sunday, more work on the playset for Russ and the kids and I got outside, too. They watched Daddy build, drew on their chalkboard and had the BEST time spashing in their water table! At one point, Tyler was dumping entire shovels full of cold water on Caroline's head...she did not like that so much. They both were completely soaked and flithy that I had to strip them naked outside before naps. Ha!

That night, we met Uncle Brian at the Redbirds game. We enjoyed the food in the suite and watched a few innings before we headed down to find seats on the lower level. We ran into the Glass', so we all sat together. Uncle Brian treated Tyler to ice cream in a baseball hat and we went and explored the games/playground area, too. The game itself went surprisingly fast (and ended with a Redbirds victory), so we decided to take a chance and stay for the fireworks scheduled for after the game. Neither of the kids had seen fireworks before, so we were unsure how they would do, but both did great! Caroline was glued to the sky and Tyler was shouting "WOW!" almost the entire time. The poor Glass' had to leave at the beginning because sweet Bennett was terrified and it was too loud for baby Libby. :( It was another late night with very tired kiddos...Tyler did not get to bed until after 10p and he was wide awake!

Sunday was pretty low-key with more outside and water table fun. We enjoyed our newly built playset before we headed up the street to the Fields' house for a little cookout. The kids had fun playing outside and eating pizza while the adults enjoyed some adult company and yummy BBQ ribs made by Brian. Caroline thinks she is big and tried her best to hang with the boys...and she did a pretty good job, too. There was a major Tyler meltdown when we left, but we had to get home to much-needed baths and a normal bedtime.

This big girl loves to slide and can climb up all by herself!

Tyler wanted nothing to do with pictures. And Caroline was not into smiling at all.

This was the best one we could manage.

Climbing up the slide was big fun!
|
Preston and Tyler had so much fun climbing the slide over and over.

Preston was so sweet with Caroline, too.

Cami got so many great shots of Caroline...I couldn't pick just one!

So grateful for such a busy and full weekend. We did not have to fix dinner for ourselves any except for Friday!! It would definitely not be possible without the sacrifice of so many others.
