Aunt Carol and Uncle Mark came to visit this past weekend. They have been wanting to come to town since the spring, but with our kitchen reno, all the construction at our house and our traveling, this is the first weekend that worked.
We decided to start our Saturday off with a trip to the Zoo! Everyone was excited to go - Carol and Mark had never been and our family hadn't been since early spring. We saw the monkeys, giraffes, elephants, pandas, camels, sea lions, polar bears, grizzly bears, wolves, birds, lions, tigers and all the other animals in between. Whew! The giraffes are always Tyler's favorite and this time he also loved the elephants. Caroline was a little timid at first and would bury her head and whine at the animals, but she got used to it and definitely wanted to be picked up to see the animals at each stop.

Heading in to the Zoo! Both kids were excited to ride in the wagon and Daddy was a champ for pulling it! |
| This monkey was sitting crazy close to the edge! |
| Looking for monkeys. |
| Caroline was not sure what to think! |
| These monkeys came right up to the glass!! |
| Caroline was definitely a little scared, but Tyler thought it was great! |
| Ya-Ya was fast asleep with his paw over his eyes. |
Tyler got to pet this mama camel. She was nursing her 9 week old baby and growling and Caroline started crying! |
| Ha! He didn't get very far! |
We spent some extra time watching the sea lion show, which we made it all the way though with the help of some snacks. We also fed the giraffes and birds, which is always such a highlight!

| Waiting for the sea lion show to start! |
| Letting the kids stretch their legs. |
| Oh those pudgy little thighs! |
| Looking at the sleeping grizzly bears. |
| Feeding the giraffes!! |
| Mark was the bird whisperer! |
We all left the zoo completely exhausted! Everyone took naps (adults included!) and then met back up for dinner at Soul Fish. It was yummy and the kids did pretty well at the restaurant.

| Holding hands on the way home from dinner. They can be sweet sometimes. |
Sunday morning, Russ and Mark went to play golf while Carol and I hung at home with the kids. Carol and Mark came bearing gifts of bubbles, so we played outside with those and also on the swing set. It was SO hot that we decided to get in our freezing cold, GREEN pool. The water actually felt pretty good once we got used to it. Caroline was not having ANY of it though and she just played with toys on the side of the pool.
It was a really fun weekend and we are so glad Aunt Carol and Uncle Mark finally made it to town. We are excited to see them over Labor Day weekend again, too. We are just the luckiest to have such amazing family in our lives who love our kids like crazy!
