Labor Day Weekend Fun!

We had a great long weekend of fun! It was mostly centered around football, as Tiger football has begun!! Our team is predicted to be pretty good this year, so we are excited for a new season.

We made plans to tailgate on Tiger Lane with friends and Pop Pop came in town to join us. It was unbelievably HOT so we rotated our time playing outside and trying to find shade and a fan under the tent. It was so warm, that they did not even last very long at the giant inflatables (which is fine with me because those things are always packed with big kids!) They still had a big time playing with friends.

Our friend Mr. Sloan is on the motorcycle detail for the Tigers through the MPD and he and his partner Scotty offered to take the kids into the tunnel before the game and be on the field for kickoff! So fun and what a special treat! We sent Tyler but I declined to send Caroline, even though Kalista begged me to. I just had visions of her running onto the field...Hahaha! To help corral the kids, Kalista and Fran (wives to Sloan and Scotty) and Wally went too. The got to be in the tunnel as all the players and coaches ran onto the field and all the players gave them high fives! Then, they stayed on the field for the entire 1st quarter! Unfortunately for them (but good for the Tigers), we kept them in the opposite end zone so they were far from the action. But they were close to Tom the Tiger and every-time we scored, he trailer would sound off with flashing blue lights! Tyler had a big time!

Here's link to a fun video that Wally shot of the kids in the tunnel...Tyler was the youngest and in the front of the "line up" so you can't really see him. This is the kind of stuff I hope he remembers forever!!

We watched the game from seats close to the end zone with our friends all around. The kids had fun eating popcorn, dancing to the chicken dance and cheering on the Tigers! The kids and I left in Q3 for home...it had been a long day and we were beat! Pop and Russ followed shortly after.

Pop Pop left Sunday as we headed to church. We enjoyed a potluck with our new Sunday School class and afterwards, we headed home for naps and some relaxing. Later, we went over to Todd's house that afternoon from some swimming and a Labor Day cookout.

Tyler has gotten good at building his marble run all by himself!
Eating dinner at Todd's after a little swimming.
Monday we did some work around the house and in the yard, but also had fun celebrating Roni and Nora...twins in Tyler's class at school who turned 5! They had a bounce house and so many fun toys to play with...our kids were in heaven and it was nice to see so many of the kids and parents from Tyler's class. Tyler was also gifted a Memphis Tigers bike from the Greens, so he practiced riding it.

It was a great 3-day weekend and we are so grateful for the family time.
