What's Buzzing with the Brasfields: Christmas Weekend Fun

We packed so much fun into one weekend...looking back now as I write this post, we were crazy! But I'm never one to turn down a fun time! Hold on tight...this is gonna be a long post full of tons of pictures with all things CHRISTMAS!

We started our weekend with Snowy Nights at the Botanic Gardens. We got free tickets because they cancelled the fall campout due to lack of signups and we were excited to go for the first time. So I picked up the kids and Russ met us there after work. The kids had a great time...mainly just running around and playing in My Big Backyard though and not as much doing the crafts and things. They both did love the "snow globe" and the giant "lite brite". Caroline was very scared of the Gingerbread Man at first, but learned to love him so much she started stalking him! Ha! We all left a hot and sweaty mess from running around since it was unseasonably warm that night.

The next morning, Russ took Tyler to build the holiday train at the Lowes Build and Grow event while Caroline and I stayed home to bake cookies. Caroline and I had the best time! But I am glad that these cookies were just for us because baby girl could not keep her fingers out of the dough/ingredients. She had fun helping me cut them out, too. When Tyler got home, we decorated them with icing and sprinkles. Russ was already starting to stress at the mess, so I sent him out to run an errand. We were finished and the mess was cleaned up before he even got back! Ha!

She got a phone call from Ms. Jessica apparently mid-baking. Love those good manners, too. Ha!

We took short naps and headed to our favorite spot to watch the Germantown Parade. It was so warm and this was the first year we've been that we weren't bundled up in coats! The kids enjoyed the bands and getting the candy thrown. We also saw several friends walking or riding in the parade, too, so that was extra fun!

That night we had a babysitter so we could go to Wally's 40th birthday at Rec Room. We both were craving Mexican, so we stopped there for dinner before we headed to the party. I have to be honest and say that I was exhasted by that time, so we only stayed for a little while before we split. All of the days' events caught up to me! But we still had a lot of fun! (And I got zero pics of us! Whoops! But Kelly, our babysitter, sent us this one of the kids while we were out.)

After church the next day, we headed to one of our favorite Christmas traditions...Alpine Village! The kids were both way into it this year and we did pretty much everything, except see Santa since we had already done that. The big hit was of course the pretend snow, as always, but both kids also loved the train, the puppet show and checking off the houses they visited. We enjoyed this experience with new and old friends and kept running into more people that we knew while we were there, too. It was a lot of fun and we are officially in the Christmas spirit!
