Jam-packed birthday weekend!

Whew! We need a weekend to recover from our weekend! Ha. We have been going non-stop since Thursday celebrating Tyler's first birthday and we have had a great time!

Thursday, we both left work a little early to spend some time with the birthday boy. We celebrated with calzones and Muddy's cupcakes with a little "Happy birthday to You" singing on the side. It was Tyler's first ever cupcake, so of course it had to come from Muddy's. He wasn't sure about it and preferred us to feed him little bites. He did love what he ate! We had planned to go on a family walk after dinner, but Uncle Brian came over so we decided to open a few gifts and play instead. He got a table painted with Dr. Seuss' "Green Eggs and Ham" with 4 chairs with "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish and Blue Fish", a music set, lots of books and the Leap Frog birthday cake from us. A couple friends sent gifts (bowling set and Melissa and Doug puzzle board and magnets), too.

Russ and I both took off work on Friday and spent the day with Tyler. Even though we were off, none of us got to sleep in...we had 12 month pictures downtown with Ms. Cassie. Tyler was stoic and serious, as usual for most of the shoot, UNTIL we gave him a cupcake to destroy for camera and HE DID! I can't wait to see the pictures. We got several super cute smiles out of him after he had all that sugar. After Tyler got a nap at home, we all went to the zoo. We had a picnic lunch on the grass as soon as we got there. We saw the penguins and all the Down on the Farm animals. We finished up with the Birds and Bees exhibit before heading home.

That's Tyler and Russ in the prairie dog bubble!

Saturday was the big birthday party day!!  We had an absolute blast, but the party deserves it own special post to come.

Sunday, Granna watched Tyler so Russ and I could go to the FedEx St. Jude Golf Tournament. Due to the prediction of bad weather (that never happened!), they moved the tourney up to a morning start. We got there around 10:30p and visited the St. Jude Cabana on the 18th hole first. It is hard to believe it was actually a tent!! After eating and watching a few groups come through, we headed back over to a private party at our friends' house on the 18th green. This is the 4th year the Mullally's have held a FESTC party benefiting St. Jude and it was a fabulous way to watch the tourney!!
The Mullally's home is in the background.

We spent hung out on the balcony.

We finished up the weekend by doing a few things around the house and getting ready for the week. Granna is leavng in the morning, and so is Russ on a work trip. So, I will be a single-mama all week. It will be the longest I have had him by myself and I know it will be tough! We are gonna miss Daddy!! Come on Friday!!
