Pumpkin Carving

We carved one of our pumpkins last night after dinner. We hoped to carve 2, but it took a little longer than we thought trying to juggle taking pictures and videos while watching both kiddos. I printed off a few design options and Tyler and Russ decided on the winner. Tyler was super interested in "carving" and was very eager to help. He also insisted on bringing his little pumpkin inside even though we weren't planning to carve it. Russ got the top off and Tyler liked pulling the guts out with both his hands and a spoon, just like last year.

Helping to cut the top off.
Yep, Caroline was there, too.

Starting to clean out the "guts".

Caroline played happily with  her toys and the tablecloth that was protecting the floor.
What a sweet little mess!
Getting the last bit out with a spoon.
Here's a video of Tyler and Russ cleaning out the pumpkin. Tyler says he's "digging a hole". Ha!

I gave the kids baths and got them ready for bed while Russ worked on carving the eyes. Tyler came back for one last look at the pumpkin carving process before bed. Russ finished up the mouth after we got the kids down. Maybe we will invest in a pumpkin carving kit for next year...it seems to make the carving process easier. For now, this spooky guy live on our porch.
Checking out the eyes Daddy cut after bath.
Progress before bedtime.
Finished product!
