Family Beach Trip 2014, part 1

Another family beach trip is in the books. We had great weather for the most part and the kids really had a good time! We made it to the beach in record time of 7.5 hours! Woohoo! We only stopped twice - once for a late breakfast and gas and the other time to literally let Tyler pee behind the car. Ha! Things you have to do when you have a potty trained kiddo!

We stayed at the Adagio this year in Blue Mountain...we have stayed there once before in a 4BR right before Tyler was born. This trip, we stayed in a 3BR/3BA with hall bunkbeds on the ground floor and it accommodated our family, Uncle Brian, Granna and Aunt Carol quite nicely. This unit had more kitchen and living space than where we have stayed in the past with kids. Tyler LOVED the hall bunk and slept great in the bottom bed. I think next year, both kids might be able to sleep there and we can reclaim the master bath (where one kid has always slept in the pack 'n play for the past 3 years of beach trips) for ourselves!

Reading before bed in Tyler's bottom bunk.

The only bummer was that the exterior of our building was being painted, so we couldn't use patio access to the beach. We knew this was a possibility going in and were hoping it would be done before we went. BUT, we got the week at a discount because of our inconvenience so it kinda worked out ok.

We went down to the beach every morning for a few hours after breakfast and stayed until it was time for lunch and naps. The water was crystal clear...as clear as I have ever seen it! You could go out chest deep and still see your feet! It was also really calm, which is nice for little kids.

Beach selfie!
Tyler was really independent this year and loved playing in the sand. We brought lots of sand toys and he loved driving his trucks and boats all around. He had fun building a sand castle one day with Mommy, Aunt Carol and Granna. He also really enjoyed the ocean, too. He wore his puddlejumper and still needed someone with him in the water, but he did not get too upset if he went underwater. And he flew his first kite with help from Mommy!

We bring a lot of toys to the beach!
Playing ball with Uncle Brian!

Caroline had to get in on the action, too.

She was COVERED in sand.
She just started rolling around in it...

He seriously would have been happy doing this all day.
Making friends and sharing toys.

Caroline was a little more high maintenance. Typical, ha! She liked to play in the sand, but got distracted easily. She liked climbing in all of our chairs and wanted to be up and down in our laps, just like at home. She was OBSESSED with the sea gulls and kept calling them puppies! She would squeal and point and want to chase them every time she saw them. We also did see quite a few actual puppies that she just had to go see, too. It took her a little bit, but she warmed up to the water, too. One of us always had to be holding her in the water and she didn't like it on her face, but there were times she asked to go out in the ocean.

Aunt Carol and Caroline

She was not a fan of the water in this picture!
My little diva!

She ate her weight in cheerios....and sand!

Watching Mommy and Tyler in the ocean.

Chasing the "puppies"!

She cried when this dog had to leave.

Love little baby footprints.

I love this picture. She snuck over to the dump truck when no one was around.
She looks so guilty! Ha!
Both kids really liked playing in the sand right as the waves came up. This felt a little less risky for Caroline. One day, she actually was so tired she fell asleep on me by sitting in the water and stayed asleep until I woke her up to go up for lunch. The beach wears a kid out!

Taking a break to bury Mommy in the sand (with help from Daddy and Granna).
Caroline kept taking off my hat and then putting it back.
Giving Mommy kissses, aww.

After the kids napped, some days we went back out to the pool and some days we stayed in and watched TV and played. It just depended on how the day went.
These 2 loved playing hide and seek in the curtains!
(And Tyler wanted to be naked all week!)

The kids loved playing with all the blankets.

Caroline liked to pick up this chair and carry it all over the condo!
Uncle Brian said she was trying out for WWE 2030!
