Small Fry Triathlon

Tyler participated in the Germantown Small Fry Triathlon on Saturday. To say he had fun is a massive understatement!! He had a BLAST!

The event is for 2-5 year olds only and mimics the Bike-Run-Swim of an adult triathlon. The 2 and 3 year olds go first and they did a wave start with 6-7 kids going at once until all the kids had finished. Tyler had to wait a good 10 minutes or so until it was his turn and Russ said he was just so excited.

Tyler and Daddy waiting for their turn.
I had Caroline contained in a stroller so that I could get some good
pictures. She loved watching all the kids start on their bikes.

They started with the bike and all the kids brought their own bike/trike/scooter to ride. Russ stayed with him the entire time, but Tyler pedaled through the bike portion all on his own.

Almost to the starting line!
"On your mark, get set..."
"GO!!"

I took this video of him at the start line... :)

Then for for the run, he dropped his trike and ran a short distance with Russ. Tyler was really into this part and just took off! So much so, that Caroline and I were not in a good position to watch and had to run to try and catch up with them!

The swim part was running through a spray/mist from a fire truck hose. They had a wet finish (through the hose) and a dry finish for kids who didn't want to get wet. To our surprise, Tyler ran through the hose! It was a chilly morning, so he was ready for his towel afterwards though. He did so great and we were really proud of him!

Way in the front, trying to decide if he wanted to run through the spray...
There he goes!
He did it!

Our little triathlete!
They had this super cute backdrop where he posed with his medal! :)

Afterwards, the whole family enjoyed free snacks and played on the great playground on site and in the bouncy houses, too.

I can't say enough about this cute, family friendly event. It was super organized and for only $5, Tyler got a shirt and a finishers medal.  We will definitely be participating ever year that we can with the kids.

I'm so proud of this big boy!
Caroline is, too! :)
