First things first, our kitchen is very close to being done and I was given the all clear to move our stuff back in! I took a couple days off this past week and put it all back together! Ahhh!! I am SO excited to be able to cook again, have the storage unit gone and park in the garage! Here's hoping the finishing moves quickly so we can have this project DONE!
Granna came in town for a visit and was able to surprise the kids at school on Thursday afternoon to pick them up. Tyler was so excited! The kids stayed home from school with her on Friday to play and I know they had the best time. My mom is so hands-on and fun to be with. She really is the best! And Caroline started saying "Nana" this weekend, too.

On Saturday, Russ and I did a lot of finishing type things in the kitchen, laundry room and half bath. We hung curtains, mirrors, pictures, etc. and all the little touches are really making it feel finished. We went to dinner and movie that night to celebrate Russ' birthday (which was the next day). He chose Houston's and it did not disappoint. There were lots of movies out that he wanted to see, but we saw X-Men and it was good. It was nice to sit and not work since that is pretty much all I have done for the past week!
There were awful storms most of Saturday and Sunday...we got something like 5" of rain in a 32 hour period. Everything was flooded! The storms got really violent on Saturday night and was lost power about 2a. I was so afraid that the kids were going to wake up because the storms were loud and they didn't have their sound machines, but they didn't! In fact, they slept until almost 9a on Sunday because it was so dark outside. That was nice because the adults all needed the extra sleep after being kept awake all night.
It was Russ' 38th birthday, so we had a few gifts for him to open. He loved the iPod alarm clock that we had in our hotel room in Curacao, so that was his gift from us and Granna got him a new mouse sander and a Grizzlies flag for his truck. You can guess which gift was Tyler's favorite. :) Since the power was still out and wrecked our plans to cook a birthday breakfast, we loaded up and went to Blue Plate. We hadn't been there in a while and it was yummy as always.
We came home to still no power so everyone napped. When we got up, we headed downtown to see Sesame Street Live. We went last year Spring when it came in town, but both kids really enjoyed it this year. Tyler was glued to the stage and really seemed to understand the story. Caroline was pointing and shouting at the characters, clapping and dancing, too. It was fun to see them enjoy it. And when we got home, we had power! Yippee!!
