In anticipation of the big Tigers v. Ole Miss home game, Friday kicked things off with a wear-your-colors to school day for the kids. Of course they were rocking their Tiger BLUE! The Vanella Gorilla (aka our preschool director Ann Laury's son Walker) stopped by to play his famous "air guitar" and take a picture with the Tiger fans!
Apparently was all about T-I-G-E-R-S! at school and yelled it every 5 seconds. She also asked her sweet teacher "where your Tiger at?" when she was wearing Ole Miss and not Tiger blue!! LOVE!!
Granna came into town to help with the kids since it was a busy weekend for us. She picked the kids up from school, which they always love! Russ mowed the grass and did yard work on Friday evening since we had a busy weekend ahead. I looked outside the kitchen window and saw the kids helping, so I had to run out and take a few pics! :)
The Tigers v. Ole Miss game was a big deal. First it was a home game and of course, a rivalry. And both teams are actually pretty good this year and the Tigers were undefeated going into this game. AND, despite getting an early 11a kickoff slot, the game was nationally televised on ABC. All great things for our Tigers and our city!
We debated but ultimately decided to not take the kids to the tailgate and game. Tyler was really disappointed to not get to go, but the game was sold out so traffic and crowds would have been at an all-time high. So, Granna took the kids across the street to Tyler's soccer game while Russ and I headed down to Tiger Lane. We left about 8a and traffic to park was already insane! But, we managed to get to the tailgate in time to see the Tiger Walk and band. It was fun being able to talk at a tailgate without having to keep one eye on a kiddo at all times. We even got a few pics of Russ and I together, too.
The crowds did not stay away and the Liberty Bowl was FULL, which was so nice to see! We did have to sit in our actual seats for this game and (being in the boot) I was grateful that we are the 2 end seats so I could hang out a little into the aisle. I also was able to sit for a lot of the game, too, which was a must. It was cool in the morning, but it warmed up by kickoff so I was shedding layers! Ha! Russ got really sun/wind burned on one side of his face, too.
The game was high scoring and was a nail biter most of the time. It didn't help that Ole Miss scored on the opening drive either. But Ole Miss and the coaching staff made a few bad calls and Paxton Lynch had a good game which resulted in a TIGER VICTORY, 37-24! Such a fun day for our team and city!

The next day, Russ and I were up early to head to Nashville to see the Titans play the Dolphins (Russ' favorite team). We invited Joe and Kat to join us...actually we treated them to the game as a belated birthday present for Joe. (His birthday was in February...oops! Guess Russ is off-duty for gift giving.) We got to stop by their house pre-game and see their newly completed attic / master bed and bath, expansion, which was fun, too.
Our seats were amazing...just a few rows from the field on the 20 yard line (thank you FedEx!) It was a really sunny day which made it quite toasty in the sun. We were all worried about getting sunburned except for Russ who said he needed to even out his burn from the day before. We were sitting on the opposite side...ha! It wasn't really a great game...turns out the Titans are worse team than the Dolphins, who ended up winning 38-10. It was still fun getting to visit with Joe and Kat, kid-free though. We left the game a little early, said our goodbyes to Joe and Kat and got back on the road to Memphis.

Football weekend is officially in the books! And we're tired!
