After school and work, we went to church. I promised Tyler we would pick up Wendy's for dinner beforehand and he was SO excited! We drive past Wendy's every day on our way home from school and he begs to go...the only other time he has been was coming home from the beach. I guess it made an impression! We went through the drive-through and it was apparent how little we eat fast food because Tyler kept asking "what happens now" after we ordered, after we paid at the window and after they asked us to move up and wait for our food. Ha!
After the kids enjoyed their Wendy's at home, I got them dressed in their Christmas best. This is the first time that Tyler has worn little man clothes and not a sweet jon-jon or longall for special occasions. While I loved those and miss them, he is a big boy now...and they would be difficult for him to handle now that he's potty trained. He looked so handsome in his bow tie and jacket. I snapped these pics by our tree before we left.
I love that our church does 2 services on the 23rd (in addition to 3 more services on the 24th)...they are less crowded and allow us to attend before starting our other commitments. Hope is known for their candlelight Christmas services...there is wonderful music and at the end everyone lights a candle and it is so beautiful. More than 20,000 people are expected to attend one of the 5 services. We went to the 6p service, but had to be there early since Russ and I were serving by handing out candles as people entered. We decided to have Tyler join us in "big church" for the first time instead of going to Adventure Land. He was pumped to help us hand out candles and did pretty well in church (though he talked a lot!) The most precious thing is he would repeat what the pastors were saying when they read scripture...he got so excited to hear things he knew about like "God", "Baby Jesus" and he even said "they took the baby!!" (referring to when they laid baby Jesus in the manager). It was so cute and sweet and really goes to show that they are always listening and pick up on everything! He was pretty obsessed with holding his candle the entire time and love lighting it at the end.

It was a very sweet night of firsts with Tyler. I can't wait until Caroline is old enough to join us, too. Only 2 more sleeps until Christmas!!
