Oh What Fun!

I don't know about you...but we couldn't have fit more fun into our weekend!

Tyler got a haircut...not particularly fun, but much needed.

We went to the Germantown Christmas Parade.

We went to the Tigers basketball game.

I made sugar cookies (we will decorate them later this week).

We went to Alpine Village with friends.

We went to a drive-thru living Nativity and drove around to see Christmas lights.

And Granna was in town for all of it, which made it even better!

We are pooped...but it was fun, fun!

After Tyler's haircut, we got the kids down for early naps so we could wake them early for the Germantown Christmas Parade. The weather was MUCH warmer than last year, so it was no surprise that there were a ton of people who came out for it this year. The kids had a blast and Tyler loved getting all the candy. Caroline was scared of the Carnival boll weavels and went into a panic attack when she saw Santa. :)

We went to the Tiger basketball game later that night. It was an early game, so we got an extra ticket and Granna came, too. It was mine and the kids first game this year. The kids did pretty well and especially loved the popcorn...we went through 3 refills of the bottomless bucket! This was Caroline's first game as a mobile tot and she was a little wiggle worm. I had to take a break to let her walk around and burn off some steam in the 2nd half, but she did pretty well considering. It was a miserable game...we lost big...we definitely have an up-and-down season ahead.

Sunday after nap, we headed to one of our favorite holiday traditions, Alpine Village! We have been every year since Tyler was born and it is definitely a highlight of the season. This year we went with the Whitleys, Mullets and Youngs, all of whom had never been. Tyler loved going in all the little shops, but his favorites were playing in the snow and watching the trains. Caroline's favorite hands-down was the snow! Every time she managed to slip away, she made a bee line straight back to the snow. Both kids were covered from head to to toe and I'm still cleaning it out of my car! I am still just amazed at this awesome event in it's 18th year that is totally free!

We got home and enjoyed hot Taco Soup (love my crockpot this time of year), got the kids bathed and dressed in Christmas PJs, fixed hot chocolate for all and headed out to see a drive-thru Living Nativity in Bartlett. They had camels and donkeys and Tyler loved it. It was really cute and we really enjoyed it. 

Since we were in the area, we ventured over to the infamous Vorwerk Family Christmas Lights display on Daybreak. This house has over 80K lights set to Christmas music that you can listen to on the radio. The kids loved it so much! We didn't have to wait very long to see it either, which was awesome. I think this will be a Christmas tradition for years to come.
