We had our first ice storm of the winter this weekend. Schools were cancelled on Friday and I stayed home with the kids. They actually also cancelled the St. Jude marathon that was this weekend, too! The roads ended up being ok, but it was COLD! We spent a lot of time playing cars, playing the iPad and watching Homeland (us, not the kids...we are on Season 2 and it's so good!) We did get out with the kids for the Tigers basketball game on Saturday.

| Attempt #2...oh well. Her face is hysterical. |
 |
| Caroline is VERY interested in Bonnie right now. She loves to crawl over to her and "pet" her. And Bonnie just lays there and takes it all, sweet girl. I think she is loving the extra attention, too. |

| Caroline clapping, her latest trick! |
 |
| She looks like she has fangs in this picture. |

Caroline loves to play with/chew on Tyler's wooden street signs. He has 2 that are plastic (shown) so we try to only give her those. |

| In their cute matching Christmas shirts. Tyler LOVES to match with Caroline. |
Caroline is a full blown crawler now and is all over the place! So much so, that she crawls her pants off half the time. At one point on Sunday, Russ left her sitting and playing in the den floor while he went to get Tyler up from his nap and Caroline followed him all the way from the den, down the hall to Tyler's room! And Tyler LOVES that she's crawling...it makes him want to crawl, too, so they play "chase".

I bought a gingerbread house decorating kit a few weeks ago, so this weekend was the perfect time to attempt it. Building the structure was a little bit more difficult than I thought it would be so Russ ended up taking over in the end. I think next time I will just use graham crackers and regular icing to make it easier. Once it was built and we told Tyler it was time to decorate, he wanted nothing to do with it. But he did warm up to the idea when he saw all the candy. I think for every 2-3 pieces he put on the house, he ate one! And he only had enough patience to decorate the roof, so the walls and doors of the house stayed blank. Ha!

| Tyler eating, Russ decorating. Ha! |
 |
| "I eat this one??" |
 |
| He is SO proud of his gingerbread house! |
Russ also stared a new project this weekend - we pulled the carpet off the stairs! We have lived in this house 4 1/2 years with this awful red carpet and finally decided to tackle it. Well, we kinda had to since we have painters coming in January to paint the den and foyer and paint would have gotten all over the carpet when painting the trim on the stairs. Russ got all the carpet, nails and staples off this weekend, so now it's on to sanding and staining. Luckily he only has to worry about finishing the top of each step itself since we will have our painter paint the risers to match the trim color. It's still a big job with only a couple weeks to finish it...and of course, it's smack in the middle of the holiday craziness, too!

| Yes, we lived we this loveliness for 4 1/2 years! |
 |
| When Tyler saw this in the garbage can on the curb he screamed, "Uh, oh! You threw the stairs away!" |
 |
| All the carpet and padding gone and halfway through removing the tack strips. |
 |
| There is a lot of work still to go, but it already looks WAY better, in my opinion! |
